Cloning Child Data

The Assign To command on list pages allows you to assign an eSlide or specimen to a specific case, project, lesson, and so on, but only if it is not already assigned.

The Clone To command makes a copy of the child data and assigns it to a new or existing parent data whether or not it is assigned to parent data. Using the Cloned To command allows you to share data between data hierarchies or between data groups. The cloned child data is treated as a separate entity. For example, annotations made on a cloned eSlide that is part of a project are not visible in the same image in a case.

The Clone To command is available on all list pages that contain the Assign To command.

To clone child data in eSlide Manager, you follow the same initial steps you do in editing or assigning child data. The primary differences are:

  1. On the list page for the child data, select an existing child data by checking the box beside it, then click Clone To.

  2. A drop-down selection box will appear beside the command link, prompting you to select what to clone the data to.

  3. Select your choice, and the Clone To page appears where you can either select the parent data to clone the child data to or define a new parent to clone the child data to. If selecting an existing parent to clone to, you can use the Filter Options to narrow the list of parent data before selecting one.
